"Death Of A Gunslinger Part Deux"

Death of a Gun-slinger Two. . .

That’s what the Informer is thinking today when he heard Brett Favre announce his retirement again. . .

Last year at this time it was death of a Gun-Slinger. . .This time it is goodbye good riddons maybe?

Most people keep saying maybe because they are like the Informer and feel that he will be un retiring again in August when the Minnesota Vikings come knocking at his door. ..

Lets face it. . .It crosses everyone’s mind when they see that Favre is yet again retiring. . .

But the Informer remembers something else about this time last year, how he was happy he wouldn’t have to deal with Brett and his heartbreaking ways ever again. . .

But then he came back and the Informer was left with two more painful Favre memories. .

The Informer remembers is this past fall, on a rainy Thursday night in Foxboro when Randy Moss made a very Santonio Holmes like touchdown catch to pull the Patriots to a tie and forcing overtime with the Division leading New York Jets. . .

Now if you remember last year the Informer wrote a blog when Favre first retired about how he would always remember the Gun-Slinger who kept breaking the Informer’s heart. . . Whether it was beating the 49ers in the playoffs. . .Beating the Vikings in the Monday Night Miraculous Catches Showdowns (The one where that Packers receiver was laying on the ground and somehow rolled around and caught a pass then got up and ran for a touchdown to beat Moss and the Vikes. . .)

And who can forget Favre’s miraculous meltdown against the Giants in the NFC Title game which eventually led to Ellis F*cking Hobbs screwing up Randy’s first Super-Bowl Championship. . .

I say first because he is still going to win the next two at least. . .

So of course the Informer was happy to have Brett and his heartbreaking ways out of his life, only to learn that Favre was coming back to the NFL this year to quarterback the Patriots rivals the New York Jets. . .How did the Informer know this was going to be a heartbreaking experience?

Fast forward back to that Thursday night game. . .The Informer was drinking his tall-boys watching Matt Cassel come of age leading the Patriots back, when only seconds remained and Moss made a ridiculous game saving touchdown catch. . .(The Informer is man enough to admit that he was so happy he was crying)

The game goes to overtime and the Jets face third down and forever. . .All the Pats D has to do is make a stop and let the offense win the game and the Pats are cruising to a Division Title. . .

In steps the Gunslinger, who was looking very long in the tooth at that time, which obviously means that Favre completes some stupid pass to the tight end for a first down, followed by about six straight completions setting up the game winning field-goal. . .Winner Jets. . .

Heartbreak Informer. . .

The Pats and Moss finished the season as the hottest NFL team and with an 11-5 record but still needed one more thing to happen to make the Playoffs. . .

They needed the Jets to beat Miami. . .They needed Favre in his new home to win one game. . .
So once again the Informer is sitting in his room killing beers needing Brett to pull one last magic trick out of his hat to save the Pats postseason hopes. . .

With the game winding down the Gunslinger has the Jets driving for the go-ahead score when all of the sudden. . .The gunpowder was gone. . .

Favre threw an Interception and the Jets lose. . .The Pats don’t make the playoffs. . .And again the Informer is left thinking “I F*cking hate Brett Favre”

I said it last year, but all the guy does is rip out the Informer’s heart. . .

Seriously he is the Informer’s kryptonite, when I route for him he loses, when I route against him he somehow pulls magic out of his arse and wins. . .

The Informer thinks he was put on this earth to torment me and finally he is gone. . .

Good-bye and good riddons Mr. Gunslinger. . .

Then again if the Pats meet the Favre led Vikings in the Super Bowl next year he will be thinking the same thing you were all thinking when he announced his retirement for the second time. . .

Here we go Again!!!
